linuxusers.in is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.
This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.
Year after year, #FOSDEM continues to disappoint.
The most relevant part of their keynote's description at https://fosdem.org/2025/schedule/event/fosdem-2025-4507-infusing-open-source-culture-into-company-dna-a-conversation-with-jack-dorsey-and-manik-surtani-block-s-head-of-open-source/ (purposefully taken out of context):
"Block Founder and CEO Jack Dorsey"
Yes, please do. (Block as a verb, not a "proper" noun.)

is inaccessible for those with:
- mobility issues
- scent sensitivities (no policy against perfume, uses smelly soap in bathrooms); this affects around 30% of the population
- who need/want CC for videos
And refused:
- to have a code of conduct for years; have no real means of enforcing the one they have now
- to implement any kind of sickness mitigation (COVID, "FOSDEM Flu", or other), including encouraging masks and ventilation
And promotes:
- cryptocurrency
- billionaires
Going to unsubscribe from the #FOSDEM hashtag for now. The amount of people in my timeline just shitting on the conference and insinuating that I might be a bad person because I don't agree with them is hard to bear.

Both sponsor & speaker. I wouldn't have thought #FOSDEM sponsorship included a keynote spot. This is still a thing? How quaint.
I'm not particular interested in listening to what a millionaire & billionaire have to say to us 'opensource plebs'.
Luckily there's plenty of other interesting talks & speakers or you can join Drew's protest:

With all the excitement about the organisation changes announced yesterday, I nearly forgot to ship the product and engineering #TrunkAndTidbits updates post for last month - sorry it is a bit later than planned! Here's what @MastodonEngineering has been up to... (also, help appreciated with some React component dependency updates for the site!). Now looking forward to #FOSDEM. 💻 https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2025/01/trunk-tidbits-december-2024/
I am excited about this! We had *so many* great submissions for the #SocialWeb track at #FOSDEM, and being able to include some as a bonus for those able to attend the "After Hours" event was so important, amazing speakers all around. https://socialwebfoundation.org/2025/01/04/social-web-after-hours-at-fosdem-2025/
Currently checking out #FOSDEM's schedule and I'm finding so many great talks.
I spotted presentations by #ActivityPub royals (@evan @cwebber), Ghost founder @johnonolan... as well as talks like "Friendica - under the radar since 2010".
I cannot wait for February 😊

Good morning Fedi friends.
Send help, I am taking advantage of Black Friday sales to buy... font licenses 🤪
I am totally smitten with fonts by Nicky Laatz, so shout out to this independent creator: https://nickylaatz.com/ I wish she'd set up an account on the Fediverse.
Planning to use her Eighties Comeback font for a new blog series (about my Linux learning journey).
Next up: creating + ordering custom t-shirts for me to wear at #Fosdem, with messages that promote the #Fediverse .
