linuxusers.in is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.

@BoxyBSD was always for BSD based systems only. I focussed to push the whole BSD community and to encourage people to try BSD based systems (such like #FreeBSD. #NetBSD, #OpenBSD, etc.) but I'm not sure if it might provide more value to the whole #opensource community by also supporting #Linux systems (such like #Debian, #Ubuntu, #RockyLinux, #SuSe and more).
I'm not sure if the #BoxyBSD project still provides a value for the community right, now.
What do you think?
Another #poll for my #Debian peeps:
When in the stable release lifecycle do you upgrade from stable to testing?
Please leave a comment if none of the options apply, like if you upgrade to testing after a certain number of freezes take place, or just right before the stable release, or whatnot.
I *always* run testing: | 1 |
3 months after the stable rel. (1/8th of the way): | 0 |
6 months after the stable release (1/4): | 0 |
9 months after the stable release (3/8ths): | 0 |
1 yr after stable (halfway): | 0 |
9 months before next stable (5/8ths): | 0 |
6 months before the next stable (3/4 of the way): | 0 |
3 months before the next stable (7/8ths of the way: | 0 |
I don't ever run Debian (or a derivative) testing.: | 0 |

This weekend staying in Vienna, Austria for the #Debian Bug Squashing Party hosted by Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH! We from @credativde are also there (@formorer & @gyptazy)
Run #opensource! Let’s squash bugs!
@syntaxseed @Zenie If you install #Incus you can create/run lightweight system containers (or VMs).
So you can use whatever base distro you want and spin up a system container replicating your existing Ubuntu (or whatever) servers.
I like to use #NixOS as my base for pretty much everything these days due to reproducibility, but i still experiment with server software in #Debian or #AlmaLinux system containers.

Eh...
It's a rolling release, so it's got that going for it, but a lot/most of their custom utilities (such as the package manager) is still on Python 2, which is... not good.
/usr/bin/python
is even a symlink to python2
which is really not good.
Small team. Looks like the original dev, who started a new distro, is going to re-work a lot of those things, which will be the basis for Solus going forward, so there's a lot of hope for newer and better utilities.
To be clear, my only real complaint so far is the python2-ness of it.
Also, they don't have a ksh
package (which some of my scripts require), but I managed to compile the standard ksh2020.
I don't know if I will stay. #Python2 is kind of a deal-breaker.
Still slowly replicating my #KDE #Plasma setup from my work #Debian box. I have a lot of custom keybinds that make it a little more like i3/sway for me.
My other options are Debian testing, #FreeBSD (probably will lose the ability to run KSP), or #OpenSuSE tumbleweed (if they can ever just enable polkit by default, already).
