Ok hivemind I need some help with a cron job I have for renewing my certbot certificates.
If I type crontab -l It gives me the following output which I thought was right but it doesn't seem to run automatically even though cron is running.

          52 0,12 * * * root /usr/local/bin/certbot renew --renew-hook 'service nginx reload'
I thought it should run minute 52 past hour 0 and 12 but maybe I'm wrong ?
What does everyone else use for renewing their certs ?
If I run this manually it works and a quick certbot certificates shows they have indeed been updated.

/usr/local/bin/certbot renew --renew-hook 'service nginx reload'
          Any ideas ??

          EDIT
I'm getting somewhere checking roots mail and I see /bin/sh: root: not found so maybe I cannot run that as root ???

asm6809, a09 and lwtools, So I'll have to see if they build on my laptop. Feel free to mention any others if they exist and or boost this post.

Announcing FediMeteo โ€“ Weather in the Fediverse!

Weather has always influenced our lives: from agriculture to outdoor activities, to extreme events that, thanks to modern technology, can now be predicted with greater reliability. Personally, weather plays a significant role in my daily decisions, which is why I decided to create a service tailored for the Fediverse.

FediMeteo uses Open-Meteo data to publish updates every 6 hours, including current weather conditions, forecasts for the next 12 hours, and predictions for the upcoming days. Each country is served by its own dedicated instance (e.g., it.fedimeteo.com for Italy), managed through snac to ensure simplicity and efficiency in publishing.

You can follow FediMeteo directly in the Fediverse (on Mastodon and compatible platforms), via RSS, or by visiting the dedicated page for your city (e.g., fr.fedimeteo.com/paris).

              Currently supported countries include:
Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands โ€“ with many more regions coming soon!

FediMeteo is hosted on a FreeBSD-based VPS, with each country isolated in its own jail to ensure security and scalability.

Visit the main site to explore the national instances and start following your local weather updates today:
              fedimeteo.com

Happy weather monitoring to all! ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ

I am currently running #Pleroma and #Pixelfed (and #PeerTube, but that's not the kind of service I have in mind); which other ActivityPub software works and is maintainable on FreeBSD - and preferably without too much political baggage?

Starting to write down questions and things to do so that I can migrate from TrueNAS Core to vanilla FreeBSD for my home server.

I suspect that this will be easier than I think (thanks to ZFS), but it's very worrying, especially since I don't have a good way to back up 1.25 TB of data.

Guess I'll have to buy a new beefier external drive.
