The deed is done. I'm now in vi mode in my interactive oksh shell. Let's see how long I last. 😅

Question for all you ksh users out there. At the moment I'm using emacs mode as it is similar to what I was used to in bash. But if I was to try and fully master vi mode in my interactive shell is there a way to display in the PS1 prompt what mode it is in ?? I have tried the man page but don't see anything ? Been playing around in vi mode and sometimes I'm forgetting what mode I'm in, so it would be handy if you could somehow either change the prompt or cursor ? 🙃

For anyone struggling from unconfigurable mouse cursor on (i.e., too small mouse cursor on HiDPI environment while non-Qt6 apps are OK):
        Adding
        export XCURSOR_PATH="~/.icons:/usr/local/share/icons"
in ~/.xinitrc, which is reported (not noting where to put it in, though) at bugzilla Bug 280573 Comment 3, as the workaround helped for me, too.

I've pushed my revamped Neovim config as it's working now. There is one issue which I cannot get the back of just yet and no amount of searching the web has resolved it either. I'm using virtually the same lualine and alpha config yet the tabline always shows even with my autocmd which do run as I've changed the one that turns off the tabline to open the NvimTree and it opens ok. So something must be re-enabling the tabline but I cannot see anything in my configs ?? Even if I disable the tabline in lualine I cannot make it come back on automatically only if I enter :set showtabline=2 or to diasbale from alpha I can type :set showtabline=0 and it disables.
Very strange, but alas it is a minor issue that I can live with for now. Heck I might even drop the alpha dashboard ??

                            If you're interested:
                            * Provide a printed snippet of your fingerprint (gpg-key2ps)
                            * I will send you the signing to your email (instead of uploading them to key servers [gpg-mailkeys])
                            * You can find my key at gpg.gyptazy.com and you're allowed to upload them to key servers.
                            * Have you passport / ID card with you to validate your identity
                            * I'll probably be mostly in the but you can also ping me on Matrix

Similar energy to be found on FreeBSD by running this command to trigger an immediate kernel panic:

                              sysctl debug.kdb.panic=1

Maybe don't do that unless you want your system to panic (and hopefully reboot OK). But you do you, I'm not gonna stop you.

Been playing around with again and tonight I'm going to continue migrating my old setup from packer.nvim to lazy.nvim and maybe tweak it some more with new plugins ? I'm still using but the ongoing lack of customisability via plugins is a negative for me I guess. I did notice though that for Neovim does not have the lua-language-server but you can build it yourself if needed.
I'll push my new config to my git repo once I'm happy with it.

Today I'm sending Positive Energy channeled through Universal Love to all people on the Fediverse who have given me info on questions I asked, and taught me how to do certain things in more efficient manners.

In the short time I've been here (since 2K18 from my 1st account/instance) I've gone from dormant to active when I was forced out from Twitter, due to the Elon_Musk_Effect.

When people saw posts of mine with accompanying gfx and could not process them due to eyesight issues, one of those kind souls taught me about the existance of @altbot as built by @micr0 which gave me the power to let AI do something positve while generating Alt text on the fly, enabling those users to also fully read my posts as they are intended

At a certian point I started to see posts by @stefano after I read a few of his powerful & informative posts on providing solutions for small (company) users, companies and single individuals (many strangers on the Fediverse) using the power of OpenSource as a whole, not tying himself to one particular platform or hardware area. If the fix is best in freeBSD he'll teach you / implement that, if the fix is best in OpenDOS due to your hardware / VM / Emulator / jail used he'll go so far to give you that, using the KISS principle.

Stefano's philosophy synchronizes so close to mine, it's a natural progression for me to follow the work that he releases more closely and bring myself to higher modulation frequencies in the IT computer & networking spectrum.

Thanks to all of you I was linked to skilled network and hardware techs like @gyptazy who selflessly setup sophisticated platforms for individuals to teach themselves *BSD OS installation & configuration almost from scratch, by giving freeBSD & other VM's through load-balanced Proxmox systems.

Going on will take long and I will fill the 5k character width I have available here, thanks to the max available parameters setup on this FediVerse instance by the System Operator.
Instead I will pause with a

                                            Upgrading FreeBSD stress→success [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

Finally got around to upgrading my daily driver from 13.x to 14.x and it was a bit nailbiting. After ~30min of downloading and installing, the first reboot booted into 1024x768 superchonk graphics (still usable, just…unfortunate). Rebooting, upgrading the rest of the way plus packages took another ~45–60min.

Fortunately, everything seems to have turned out fine, including getting normal-resolution graphics back. Worst case, I could have rebooted into the pre-upgrade boot-environment snapshot. But it makes me miss the simplicity and speed of my OpenBSD OS+package upgrades on even paltrier hardware.

Also, I'm thankful I run several things on a remote machine where I can reboot locally without issue, reconnect via SSH, reattach the tmux session, and not lose any context.
